The star of the day is my grandmother who is celebrating her 90th birthday. It is a milestone for my grandma to reach this age. When she was 80, she was diagnosed with Stage 3b Cervical Cancer. I can still remember when my dad broke the news, I went inside the office toilet and cried there. It is a miracle that shes still alive now. Not just alive, but ALIVE.

I was observing the party. It was a very nostalgic sa end ko and how I realized aging is really inevitable. As I watched my Papa and his siblings dance, I realized that most of them are seniors already. I can still remember how youthful they were when I was younger. I also noticed some of my cousins who also aged. I can still remember them as teenagers during the 90s. And my nephews who are now already in their 20s, I remembered that they were babies when I was a teenager. And I am not an exemption in this aging miracle. If you reflect on it, this is quite comforting.

I can still remember when my grandma retired from government service. She was still young, with curly hair. She’s actually a small woman but you won't even notice that she’s small because of her composure and how well she can wear high heels.

When she was diagnosed with cancer and when her children asked her if she could still do chemo, she said that she is going to fight even if it is painful. And then when they told them that there was a possibility that she will get bald, she had second thoughts. Super funny lang this anecdote. I guess I got a lot of traits from my Lola.

Anyway, the party was really fun and I was able to sing a couple of songs for her.

She still looks powerful.
